MIND SPORT SOUTH AFRICA COMPUTER GAMING REGULATIONS
The Rules and Regulations of the MIND SPORTS SOUTH AFRICA shall at all times be read and applied in conjunction with these Regulations.
Schedule 1, POINTS FOR ALLOCATION FOR COMPETITIONS
1.1 The points system shall be 1 point for a win, 1/2 a point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss.
1.2 To count as having won, players must meet the victory requirements as laid down in the rules of the period being played.
1.3 In the event of a draw, a tiebreak will be used which will consist of adding up the scores of the player’s opponents. The highest such score will indicate the correct placing.
1.4 In the event that players are still tied, and such players actually had a game, the winner of that game is ranked higher.
1.5 Players who are awarded a bye shall receive the average of their total points score at the end of play. During the competition, however, the player shall not receive points in order to work out who the player will play.
Schedule2, CHAMPIONSHIPS
2.1 BATTLE HONOURS
a. The Honours trophy shall be awarded annually to the club that earns the most points at the South African National Championships.
b. Other clubs may challenge the club that holds the flag.
c. Teams shall consist of three players.
d. Challenges issued must be played in one calendar month upon receipt thereof. Should they not be so played then the holders shall be deemed to have defaulted and the challengers shall receive the trophy.
e. The challenge shall be played at the venue of club that holds the trophy.
f. The challengers shall choose the periods.
g. The challenged shall choose the rules.
h. If the periods are played at the South African National Championships, then the rules used at such championship shall be used.
i. To win the Honours the challengers must beat the holders by a simple majority.
2.2 COMPUTER GAMING CHAMPIONSHIPS
a. The Board of Control shall run championships for the following:
i. Land Area Network (LAN)
ii. Online Championships
2.3 INTER-CLUB LEAGUE (LAN)
a. Inter-club tests shall be held within the statuary provincial boundaries.
b. All affiliated clubs within such provincial boundary shall be invited by the Regional Director to participate.
c. The Regional Director of such Province shall administer the inter-club test.
d. Inter-club tests may be held in each period.
e. The size of the team will be prescribed by the Regional Director.
f. Each club may enter one team.
g. The Regional Director concerned will determine the fixture list.
h. The Regional Director shall submit the results to the Management Board before 9H00 the day after the test was held.
i. All teams that are demographically representative shall receive a bonus of 20% of their score per meet.
2.4 INTER-CLUB LEAGUE (ON-LINE)
a. Inter-club tests shall be held within the statuary national boundaries.
c. Inter-club tests may be held in each period.
d. The size of the team will be prescribed by the Board of Control.
e. Each club may enter one team.
f. An Organising Committee shall be convened by the Board of Control to administer the league.
g. The Organising Committee concerned will determine the fixture list.
h. The Organising Committee shall submit the results to the Management Board before 9H00 the day after the test was held.
2.5 INDIVIDUAL HONOURS
a. Shall be held in all computer-gaming periods played at the S A National Championships.
b. That all challenges operate as 'BATTLE HONOURS' challenges, except that the defender must defend the trophy at least twice in two months. Should the defender not have defended the trophy due to lack of opponents, he shall retain the floating trophy, however, should he not have defended the trophy and a challenge has been recorded by the Secretary of the UNION, the trophy will be awarded to the next best player.
c. Should the holder of the trophy not play at the South African National Championships in the period in which he holds the trophy, then the trophy shall be awarded to the winner of the South African National Championships for that period.
d. Should the holder of the trophy play in the South African National Championships, in the period in which he holds the trophy, and fail to finish in the top five places, then the trophy shall be awarded to the winner of the South African National Championships for that period.
e. In the case of new periods, the trophy shall be awarded to the highest seeded player.
f. Should the holder of such trophy be unavailable for more than three months, the trophy shall be awarded to the highest seeded player for such period.
g. The competition shall be run on a national level.
h. The trophy shall be inscribed on a monthly basis when necessary.
2.6 LENGTH OF CHAMPIONSHIPS
a. The Board of Control shall decide from time-to-time on the format required for each championship.
2.7 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
i. The Board of Control (CGBoC) shall decide on the periods to be played.
2.8 NATIONAL TEAM TRIALS
a. To enter National Team Trials each entrant shall be registered with the International Wargames Federation.
b. To enter National Team Trials each entrant shall include with his/her entry an essay that shall include the following:
1. At least three technical tips.
2. Tactics employed.
2.9 NATIONAL TEAMS
a. National Team members shall play at least one game per month against a South African player seeded in the top ten in the country from date of selection until two weeks before departure to the Championships for which the player has been so selected. The last two weeks, each member of the team must play at least three games per week against a South African player who is ranked in the top ten in the country.
b. The training period will be enforced by the Selectors.
2.10 CHAMPIONSHIPS
a. General
1. Regional Championships shall be divided up into Premier, Championship, University and school events.
2. The Board of Control shall decide on the periods to be played.
b. ON-LINE CHAMPIONSHIPS
1. FORMAT
a. On-line Championships shall be divided up into three legs.
b. In leg 1, all teams/players that have not played previously shall compete with the bottom half seeded teams/players from Leg 2.
c. Leg one shall be played to a round robin system.
d. Leg 2 shall consist of teams/players that finished in the top half of Leg 2 in the previous year, and the top teams taken in order of final seeding from Leg 1 as long as such number does not exceed 24 teams/players.
e. Leg 2 shall be played to a round robin system.
f. Leg 3 shall consist of the top ten (10) seeded teams from leg 2 as either Online or as a LAN as the CGBoC may direct.
g. Leg 3 shall be played to a modified Swiss system.
h. Notwithstanding points a through to, and including, g above, the first time that a championship is held in a period, such championship shall be deemed to be a leg 2 championship.
2. RECOGNITION
a. All leg 2 events shall be deemed to be provincial championships.
b. All leg 3 events shall be deemed rto be national championships.
2.11 PENALTIES
a. The Penalty System as determined by the Umpire's Committee dated 17 April 2003 was adopted.
2.12 RULES
a. In team events, teams shall only play each other team once.
b. All local amendments shall be excluded.
c. Spectators shall not be allowed to influence players.
d. All of the Union’s championships shall be played on the following system:

2.13 MEDALS
a. SCHOLARS
1. Medals shall be awarded to the first three high school and the first three primary school scholars in the following categories:
a. At each S A Schools Championships.
b. At each Provincial Schools Championships.
b. UNIVERSITY
1. Medals shall be awarded to the first three players who are registered players currently registered at any officially recognised University.
c. PREMIER
1. Medals shall be awarded to the first three players who are registered players.
d. WOMEN
1. A medal be issued to the best woman in each section.
2.14 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
a. Players who are seeded in the top twenty (Premier seedings for seniors, and Scholar seedings for juniors) in South Africa shall have the right to enter the World Championships at their own expence as long as:
1. The player is registered to both the UNION and the IWF.
2. The player enters through the UNION, and meets the Union’s requirements.
3. The player represents his/her club.
4. The rules of the World Championship specifically allow such individual entry.
Schedule 3, RULES LODGED
3.1 Rules lodged are removed from the official listing if they are not played at any regional or national championship for at least three years.

Schedule 4, RULES USED
4.1 The Rules to be used at any National or Regional Championship will be the set chosen from the list of Rules lodged by the majority of players.
4.2 Late entries shall not affect the choice of rule-set.
4.3 Only original rules and games shall be allowed at championships.
Schedule 5, SEEDINGS
5.1 The Computer-gaming representative, or his/her representative, shall be responsible for the seedings for the discipline.
