There are 109 players that qualify from 25
clubs and such players represent seven provinces.
The Gauteng Province has the most qualifiers
(35). The Old Edwardian Wargames Club has the most qualifiers (7) in such
province. However, it should be noted that the club with the most qualifiers is
the Maritzburg Christian School. Well done!
The Trials shall therefore be held in the
Gauteng Province at the Old Edwardian Society, 11 Ninth Avenue, Lower Houghton,
Johannesburg on 12 and13 January 2008.
It may interest players to note that there
are seven World Champions who qualify to participate in the trials, being:

Anyone who qualifies for the Trials may
play. All players will be given an one week 'cooling-off' period after the trials
in which time such players must indicate whether they wish to be eligible for
selection.
For any other queries, please contact Sylvia
Webster at 012 6732359 or swebster@za.go2uti.com
NOTES:
Please note that all players who enter trials must
have the following:
- The standard form together with the entry fee of R153.00 for
senior players, and R102.00 for junior players, the duly completed
questionnaire and your army list is submitted by 8 January 2008. Please
note that should you be selected to represent South Africa, it will be the
army list, as submitted by you that shall be entered into all
international championships.
- For figure gamers: your
army is fully original and has all 40 standard points. Should not all the figures
belong to you, you must submit a certified letter from the owner of the
figures in question that you have permission to use such figures when
representing South Africa both here and abroad.
- The army list that you shall use at both at the Trials and if
selected, at the World Individual Wargames Championships.
- You have submitted a photocopy of the front four pages of your
South African passport, and a photocopy of the front two pages of your
South African identity document. Should any of these documents be
outstanding at the date of trials, you will automatically be disqualified
from being selected.
- You are a South African citizen.
- You are currently registered to the INTERNATIONAL WARGAMES
FEDERATION.
- You have submitted your essay on how and why you organise army
command structure the way you do, the terrain that you prefer for your
army, how you try to get the terrain that you want, how you protect your
army's flanks, and at least three technical tips. (This only applies to
figure gamers).
- A receipt confirming that you have deposited your entry fee into
the MSSA's bank account with ABSA. The account number is: 90 4766 7676.
- Team members will be expected to travel together as a team.
- Please note that should you be selected for the team, you shall
be barred from participation in any sporting event, other than a MSSA
event, between the date of selection and the date of the event for which
you have been chosen.
This includes occasional games of touch rugby etc.
This rule was introduced in 1993 as a response to one of our players injuring
himself, which not only affected his own games, but also adversely affected the
result of the team as a whole.
k. Players that enter must be aware of their
obligations in terms of participating in local events as well as in terms of
umpiring as failure to do so may result in such player not being selected in
the following year.
Should you be selected, you should note
that the MSSA cannot guarantee that it will be able to assist players
financially.
